Sheikh Hasina Wajed is the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, a position she has held since 2008.
Since she became the prime minister, Bangladesh has experienced rapid economic growth and development. The country is almost self-sufficient in food production and has attained a level of life expectancy that is even higher than that of its big neighbour, India.
Mentioned by Forbes as the 26th most powerful woman in the world in 2018, Hasina has been credited with providing aid to Rohingya Muslim refugees that fled Myanmar.
